Hip Hip Horray for Chik-Fil-A

During Scott's recent four weeks of consecutive out of town travel, the children and I started a Tuesday night Chik-fil-a habit. It became so routine that the employees definitely recognized us each week and Eliza Grace is apparently convinced that this habit should remain part of our weekly routine. Why Tuesday nights, you ask? Because they have "extra special" kids activities or goodies on Tuesday nights. That's how they reel you in.

This past Tuesday was their back to school shin-dig, complete with balloon man, face painting and the requisite Chik-fil-a cow. Poor Will. He wanted so much to talk to and hug the cow. And you could see him mustering up his courage. And then just when he was ready to take those steps forward, he would quickly retreat to my lap.

In the end, the cow sort of snuck up on him and patted him on the head before he could get nervous about it. He smiled for quite a while after that!

Anyhoo, the face painting lady could have charged $15 person for what she did - at least that is what the going rate is at Tweetsie. Here are a few pictures of Eliza Grace. It seemed well worth the 15 minutes she stood in line to have it done. And then of course, we washed it off 2 hours later!

It does a Mommy's heart good...

Well, it was at least 30 minutes past bed time last night when I went upstairs to start the nightly push to get my children to get into their beds....when I came upon this sight:

Eliza Grace sitting there with her arm around Will reading a book to him.

I very quickly ran back down the stairs, grabbed my camera and (sort of wishing Eliza Grace had made her bed that day) snapped this picture.

I LOVE that Eliza Grace and Will love each other.
I LOVE that Eliza Grace loves to read.
I LOVE that Eliza Grace wanted to read a book to her brother.

Happy Mommy sigh....then I jumped into my nightly rant about getting them into their beds :)

My cuties

Just felt like posting some recent pictures of the kiddies. Mind you they had to be taken during those few "in between" moments when they were not antagonizing, fussing and generally bugging one another.

In these moments, they are fairly cute.

The famous Duplo tower...seconds before a smiling Will took it out
Not long after the "Duplo incident," Eliza Grace prepares to take her revenge using her America Bear (from Build A Bear). Will, as you can see, was blissfully unaware of the impending attack.

Moments later, after successfully running away from Sissy, taking the time to mug for the camera. He refers to this smile as his "I'm cute!" smile
This picture was taken upon request after Eliza Grace stated that she looked really snazzy.

Week 4 and the fun just keeps comin'

Scott is in Nashville for the fourth week in a row Mon-Fri this week and here is what Will looked like on Tuesday morning:

Yep, those are hives. This is the 4th outbreak of hives in his short 32 months of life on the outside. This time they are (best guess) from a virus that he apparently has picked up. The upside is that it is not likely that they are from yet some other allergic reaction...whew!

Poor kid is so itchy. It has been so bad in fact, that we went back to the Dr. at 7:30am today and got a prescription antihistamine to put on top of the 10mg of Zyrtec a day. Neither drug, by the way, really make him that drowsy.
And like a typical kid, this has not in any way slowed down his pace for running, playing, jumping, or eating.

Here's praying that Will's hives go away quickly and that ModusLink remembers that Scott has a wife and family that would like to see him home for good.

My Travelin' Man

Just wanted to give a GINORMOUS shout-out to all the working single parents out there.

This is week three of Scott's Monday - Friday stint in Nashville, TN. Once again, this coming Friday he and I will learn whether or not week four will happen next Monday.

I know it is no more fun for him than it is for me...since he has to do the work at the plant there and still get things done at the plant here too.

Or...maybe he planned the whole thing, because somehow he has managed to be gone the week before, during and after my once a quarter period. Hmmm. (Sorry, TMI!)

Regardless, here's to all the single working parents and the hope that some day soon you will get a moment to relax all by yourselves!

A girly kind of day...

Well, a little blurry but it's a flower!
Eliza Grace sorely tried my very poor artistic skills this past weekend....but, I think I did darn good! Of course, all 10 nails peeled off perfectly in the bathtub 6 hours later - my art literally went down the drain :)

The request was for palm trees on one hand and flowers on the other...
because she is an Island Princess, geez, don't you know anything?!
