Snowpocalypse 2014.

I'm not sure why North Carolina decided we needed to have an actual winter season this year, but I think we can all agree it was a mistake.

Regardless, if it's going to snow, you might as well be out there playing in it.

Here are some fun sights and sounds of playing in the white stuff.

Chewie had so much fun running around in the snow. He also had his first ever sled ride!

1/2 inch of snow + 2 hour school delay = time to play!

This winter has been blessedly mild.

Although I personally LOVE mild, spring-like winters, it does not bode well for kids who like to play in the snow every once in a while.

Thankfully, for the kids' sake, Mother Nature dropped a whole half inch of wet snow Sunday night.  This of course resulted in school being delayed two hours on Monday.

Sad, I know.

The kids had approximately 90 minutes before school to play in the "snow."
They made the most of it!
I think I might have to take Eliza Grace snow boarding or surfing because she was doing a fine bit of both across the mostly grass-with-a-little-bit-of-snow back yard.
And she took it like a champ when she wiped out.

Flakey

It started with an early snow flake or two.
Which led to this:Which naturally led to this:This strange little boy only likes his marshmallows on the side of his hot chocolate.
Which prompted Scott to remove the chalkboard board that had been covering this for the past 5 years:
It actually lit!

And now the kids are watching this
while the snow flakes continue to fall. Perfect time for me to sneak away for a nap!

Snow Day!

Around six inches of snow fell overnight Monday and Tuesday morning.

For us here in NC, that is tantamount
to a blizzard.

They cancelled school of course.

Then, and this really cracks me up, our new Governor declared a state of emergency.

Can you imagine what the folks in New England, Indiana or Colorado are thinking?

Six inches of snow is a state of emergency. By 2pm most all city roads were completely clear and the sun was out.

Oh well, it sure was a lot of fun to play in. This is our first snow in a couple of years so it was the first Will has really seen.
