Carving It Up.

In case you can't tell from this picture, Will does not enjoy the "de-gooing" of the inside of the pumpkin.
It doesn't bother Eliza Grace at all.
In the spirit of Will's Minecraft Steve costume....

This year Eliza Grace did all her own carving for the very first time.  It turned out adorable!

And to make it extra Halloweenie authentic, we hired that daddy long leg spider to pose for the picture!

The Great Pumpkin(s)

Last night was our annual pumpkin carving.
This year's victims are definitely the largest yet.Scott is our master carver but Eliza Grace and Will
both sketch what they want their pumpkins to look
like before they go under the knife.
Will specifically wanted his to have
"angry eyebrows" and Scott obliged nicely.I cannot tell you how proud I am of myself for learning how to use the manual setting on my camera to adjust the shutter speed so I could capture the glowing pumpkin.

Well, I guess I just did!
Eliza Grace opted for a traditional
look and was very specific that
hers only have three teeth.

"One on top that fits between the two on the bottom."

Done.
Eliza Grace is our chief seed separator.
She does a great job removing the slimy goop from
the seeds so they can be washed, brined, seasoned
and baked for a yummy snack later this week.

Two Pirates, Velma and Them Bones

Halloween was a 2 day affair this year. On Friday, Will's school had a costume parade and carnival that was loads of fun.

Then we carefully de-costumed to be ready for the real thing the next day. Saturday started out rainy but the evening was dry and nearly 70 degrees as we hit the streets.

The Duseks joined us for dinner and Trick or Treating. Will decided at the last minute that he would be brave this year and actually ring some bells instead of sitting on the stoop and handing out candy. Of course, Scott and George handled giving candy out quite nicely - it was something you could easily do while holding a beer!

Speaking of, one neighbor offered grown up treats - a fridge with 6 built in taps to taste their home brew! Too bad Scott and George were at our house holding down the fort.

Here are a few pics from the evening. Eliza Grace received the most comments for her costume by far!

Arrg...Capt'n Spooky!
Jinkees - it's Velma!

We're done...dig in!Oh, and remember, Mama Q gets all the Whoppers.
