Mother's Day 2013

I've had a lovely weekend.

North Carolina's weather seems to have fully committed to Spring and we have had both plenty of rain and warm sunshine.

On Saturday evening, I took a quick drive over to Winston-Salem to have dinner with my Mother and my three sisters so we could celebrate Mother's day together.

We forgot to take a picture at the restaurant and when we finally remembered to take one, Kelly had already left :(

Trey was too far away to join us but he was there in spirit!

We had good food and lots of laughs, which was just what we all needed.

Mother's Day Sunday began with breakfast in bed, which was very nice, despite the fact that Will and Eliza Grace ate my toast and Chewie nearly upended the whole thing when he jumped on the bed.  Scott's omelet was divine, as always.

After church I used my "1 hour nap" coupon given to me by Eliza Grace.

Heavenly.

Scottie made his fabulous bread and grilled steaks for dinner.  I prepared a salad straight from our garden and we had watermelon for dessert.

And just when I thought the day couldn't get much better, I was told it was time for the show.

Eliza Grace had written a song for me and got her brother to run the props.

Will had prepared a little something as well.  My shy guy offered something short and sweet.

Definitely feeling the love today.

A Very Lego Christmas

Thanks to gifts from Aunt Michelle and family, we had a fun Christmas day putting together our first ever official Lego kits.

Eliza Grace and I put together her horse barn that had all kinds of intricate details. Will helped "supervise" Scott's assembly of the fire house and trucks, which were even more intricate. It was a wonderful way to spend time together in our jammies in our warm, cozy den on Christmas day. Couple that with our traditional Christmas morning sausage and egg casserole and it was a good as it gets!

On the 26th, a big chunk of my extended family came over to share a meal and watch the children open gifts. I took some nice pictures before everyone arrived, however, in the midst of the hustle and bustle and eating and chatting, I forgot to take pictures of the actual people, save one! The tables did look nice, but I would rather have had more pictures of my loved ones! I vow to do better next time.

It Was A Beautiful Easter Morning

Last Sunday's Easter morning was beautiful - perfect for celebrating God's most wonderful gift, the resurrection of Jesus, our Savior!

We celebrated with Heidi and Gretchen at church and then headed home to take some pictures -since for once we all looked pretty good!

Then, with picnic baskets packed, we headed
to the park. A perfectly lovely afternoon.
I cannot remember the last time (or possibly any time!) all four of us have been in a picture at the same time.

Cousin buddies!
Will refused to change out of his sweater vest that he had waited weeks to wear. Thus the British school boy look. All he needs is a beanie and a scarf!
The tire swing is always a big hit...

...as is the sand box.

Yum!

Apologies to Heidi, but I had to post this picture. It is such a typical scene when a Cavanagh girl is around. The bird was not out of the deep fryer for more than mere minutes when we stripped that baby clean of every inch of crispy, delicious cajun-seasoned goodness in no time.
